Mission Statement
The North/West Lower Michigan Synod joins and knits together each ministry to promote the health and growth of the body of Christ.
Guiding principles:
- Respectful communication
- Beginning and ending in prayer
- Honoring the weakest member
- Being generous stewards
- Celebrating diversity
Synod priorities of equal importance include:
- Providing training and resources to strengthen congregational life and congregational leaders, thereby equipping the saints to respond to human needs locally and globally with grace, hope and love.
- Initiating a faithful and inviting witness of the Good News of Jesus Christ within the diverse communities of the synod.
- Fostering a sense of community and interdependence among congregations, the synod, and the Churchwide expression of the ELCA.
- Confronting the racism that divides us so that we can grow in and celebrate racial diversity as a synod.
- Motivating and encouraging one another in all areas of stewardship development by giving increased time and energy to mission support and benevolence, To Whom Shall We Go, planned giving, and Earthkeeping Education.
- Empowering congregations to support and encourage youth and young adults to be full participants in the congregations’ ministries.
