ELMM: The Gospel of Luke and the Book of Acts
October 13, 2017 - October 14, 2017
The Gospel of Luke and the Book of Acts
The Rev. Walter F. Taylor Jr., B.A., M.Div., Ph.D., Retired – Trinity Lutheran Seminary, Columbus OH
One way to appreciate the writings of Luke is to consider what we would miss without them. Can we imagine Christmas without shepherds or without a baby in a manger? The church year without Ascension or Pentecost? Many favorite Bible verses would be lost—Zacchaeus, Mary and Martha, the good Samaritan, the prodigal son—all would be gone forever. The gospel of Luke and the book of Acts are a two-volume work by the same author. Although they are separated in our Bibles by the Gospel of John, they are intended to be read together (see Acts 1:1).
