Leadership

Thank you for exploring the Leadership or Vocation and Education area of the North/West Lower Michigan Synod.

My name is Pastor Julie Bailey and I serve as the Assistant to the Bishop for Vocation and Education. We believe that all people are called and gifted by God for service in our congregations, communities and the world. Parts of my responsibilities include:

• standing with youth and young adults in the discernment and use of their gifts and talents for ministry "for the sake of the world"
• nurturing competencies for the formation of Christian faith in children
• shepherding and evaluating those who are in the candidacy process as they move toward ordination, commissioning, or consecration
• supporting and increasing the campus ministries of this church located in the lower peninsula
• encouraging the full utilization of the camping and retreat offerings of Living Water Ministries
• training and deploying Lay Missionaries and Synodically Authorized Ministers
• overseeing First Call Theological Education for the newly rostered
• expecting and facilitating customized continuing education for all rostered leaders, Lay
  Missionaries, and Synodically Authorized Ministers, encouraging the use of spiritual directors and/or coaches for these leaders
• promoting the spiritual well-being of all the baptized, and
• the mobility and call processes
