Scholarships

The North/West Lower Michigan Synod Synod (NWLM) supports called leaders to the rostered ministry of the Church. As supported by resolution at the 2003 Synod Assembly, funds are available for distribution to those preparing for such ministry.

Two scholarship opportunities are available for candidates:

• Seminary Education Assistance
  This scholarship is used toward either tuition or non-tuition expenses (housing, books, fees, insurance, etc.) Each student may receive up to $10,000 during their seminary career. 
  
  
• Eligibility Requirements for Seminary Education Assistance
• Have received a positive approval for entrance from the Candidacy Committee
• Be admitted to an accredited seminary
• Attend seminary full time
• Complete an application form
• Be studying for parish ministry
• Be a member of the North/West Lower Michigan Synod
  
  
  
• NWLM Fund for Leaders in Mission
  This scholarship may only be used toward tuition expenses.
  
  Eligibility Requirements for the Fund for Leaders in Mission Scholarship
• Have received a positive approval for entrance from the Candidacy Committee
• Attending an ELCA seminary seminary
• Attend seminary full time
• Complete an application form
• Be studying for parish ministry
• Be a member of the North/West Lower Michigan Synod

*Scholarship money is sent to the seminary, not directly to the student. These scholarships are awarded annually. Candidates must apply annually.
