SUMMARY:Ecumenical Community of Michigan Retreat
DESCRIPTION:The Ecumenical Community of Michigan (formerly “LARC”) will host a retreat on March 10 – 12\, 2025. The retreat will begin in the late afternoon on Monday\, March 10 and conclude with lunch on Wednesday\, March 12. \nThe theme for the retreat is “Spirituality and Self-Awareness: Lent as a Pathway to Enlightenment.” Lent is an ideal time to examine our assumptions\, our biases\, and (let’s say it) our quirks. Through our time together we will grow in awareness of gifts to cultivate and exercise\, and unproductive habits of thought and action to let go. \nThe retreat will be at the Augustine Center in Conway\, Michigan (a few miles northeast of Petoskey). DESCRIPTION:“This isn’t Kansas\, Toto.” Living in the New\, Digital World: Lessons for Adults and Children \nPresented by Dr. Patricia Fosarelli\, MD\, DMin\nSponsored by the Lutheran Faith Community Nurse Association \nCourse Description: The digital world is here to stay\, and while it is capable of offering information and opportunities previously unavailable to most of us\, that capability is a double-edged sword. Information that is false can be passed off as truth; comments that are mere opinions can appear to be facts; websites that are inappropriate for anyone can be accessed by the youngest or most vulnerable; persons who appear to be peers on social media can be predators; humiliating social media posts can lead the most susceptible to harming themselves. \nAt the end of this session: \n\nParticipants will identify the various electronic media available today – what they offer and to whom they offer it.\nParticipants will be able to identify measures to protect the children elderly and mentally challenged individuals from being victimized.\nParticipants will identify two ways we can protect ourselves from false information on the internet.\nParticipants will be able to identify three strategies for how this information can be used in ministry.\n\nThis session will held March 25\, 2025 from 7:00-9:00pm ET via Zoom. DESCRIPTION:The Center of Addiction & Faith will be hosting a free one-hour webinar\, “Pastoring with Dual Diagnosis with Seth Perry” on March 26\, 2025 from 1:00pm-2:00pm ET. \nThe Rev. Seth Perry will share his personal and professional journey of pastoring while living with a dual diagnosis. He will explore the challenges and stigma that clergy face in seeing mental health and addiction recovery as well as the unique strengths that come from leading with lived experience.  In 2024 he authored the devotional Our Stigma\, furthering his commitment to breaking down barriers in faith communities.  He is a pastor at Elim Lutheran Church in Scandia\, MN.
