DESCRIPTION:Mark your calendar for Sunday\, September 7\, when congregations of the ELCA will join together for our annual day of service\, “God’s work. Our hands.” \nParticipating in service projects is one way to celebrate who we are as the ELCA — one church\, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor. \nWe are a church that is energized by lively engagement in faith and life. As we continue our tradition of service\, we remember the words of Martin Luther\, “Our faith is a living\, busy\, active\, mighty thing.” With our hands\, we do God’s work of restoring and reconciling communities in Jesus Christ’s name. \nIf your congregation cannot participate on September 7\, you are encouraged to pick another date that fits your schedule. ELCA congregations participate in acts of service every day. SUMMARY:Installation of Bishop-Elect Schneider-Thomas
DESCRIPTION:The Rev. Julie Schneider-Thomas will be installed as bishop of the North/West Lower Michigan Synod on Saturday\, September 13\, 2025 at 4 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids (2700 Fulton Street E). Worship will include a volunteer choir and a reception will follow. Childcare will be available. \nAll are welcome to attend and are invited to wear something red. Rostered ministers of all denominations are invited to vest. The color of the day is red. \nPlease RSVP for childcare\, if you plan to sing in the choir\, or if you are staying for the reception following the installation. \n\nIn addition\, for those in town on Friday evening\, you are invited to a Holden Evening Prayer Service with light refreshments to follow at Zion Lutheran Church (582 Lamoreaux Drive\, Comstock Park\, MI) starting at 7 pm.
