SUMMARY:2024 Synod Assembly
DESCRIPTION:Jesus names us “the salt of the earth” and “the light of the world\,” and compares the kingdom of heaven or reign of God to “leaven” (Matthew 5:13–16; 13:33). \nAt the 2024 Synod Assembly\, the North/West Lower Michigan Synod will celebrate ways our congregations are ”salt of the earth\,” “light of the world\,” and “leaven” of the kingdom in ways large and small as we prayerfully participate in Jesus’s own work of reconciling the world to God’s very self. \nThe 2024 Synod Assembly will be held virtually via Zoom on May 11\, 2024. \nLearn More.

SUMMARY:"God's work. Our hands" Sunday 2023
DESCRIPTION:Mark your calendar for Sunday\, September 10\, 2023 when congregations of the ELCA will join together for “God’s work. Our hands.” Sunday\, our annual day of service.\n\n \n\nThis year marks the 10th anniversary of “God’s work. Our hands.” Sunday! “God’s work. Our hands.” Sunday began in 2013 in connection with the ELCA’s 25th anniversary. It continues to be an opportunity to celebrate who we are as the ELCA — one church\, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor.  ELCA congregations participate in acts of service every day.\n\n \n\nThis day of service is an extension of the work you already do to make your community a better place. Consider expanding your day of service this year by inviting a friend\, partnering with a neighbor congregation or serving in collaboration with a local community group or event.\n\n \n\nIf your congregation cannot participate on September 10\, you are welcome and encouraged to pick an alternate date that suits your schedule.\n\n \n\nVisit ELCA.org/DayofService for updates and resources.

SUMMARY:ELCA Vital Congregations Training - Part 2 (Fall 2023)
DESCRIPTION:Is your congregation ready for a follow-up to ELCA Vital Congregations Training\, Part 1? Have you taken some of the learning from that first training and put it into practice in your congregation? Has your congregation developed some next steps and are they beginning to live into revitalization and renewal? Are you seeking more training to move deeper into congregational transformation? Then\, you are invited to attend the 2023 Fall Session of the ELCA Vital Congregations Training\, Part 2. \nThis is a fast paced co-creative and co-experimental training facilitated by leaders with steep experience in redeveloping congregations as well as added guest presenters from a variety of settings with a wealth of knowledge. This training will build on the previous training of being expectant of the Holy Spirit\, focusing on Jesus and justice; living as disciples of Jesus; multiplying leaders who are young\, diverse and bring fresh insights; and aligning with purpose and core values. Focused on evangelism\, this training will equip participants to identify and share their faith stories\, recognize opportunities to share their faith\, move into spaces and places that offer the development of new relationships\, and become more comfortable with inviting people to come and see Jesus. \nThis will be a four-session training. The training sessions will be held two times per day from 1:30-3:00 p.m. (eastern time) and from 7:30-9:00 p.m. (eastern time) on Thursdays August 31st\, September 14th\, September 28th and October 5th. You may choose the best time each day that works for you. All sessions will be recorded and available to all registered participants. Pastors and congregations are encouraged to come as teams of 3–5 people for a time of inspiration\, learning\, planning\, sharing\, experimenting\, visioning\, and implementing. NOTE: This training is for people who have already attended a previous ELCA Vital Congregations Training. \nFor more information\, please contact Pastor David Sprang\, Assistant to the Bishop and Director for Evangelical Mission at davidsprang@mittensynod.org. \nRegister Now.
