DESCRIPTION:This session is led by Sister Nancy Brousseau and is underscored by the physicist\, Dr. Elizabet Sahtouris\, who reinforces the notion that our world is undergoing a major evolutionary transition\, one that “requires us to outgrow our adolescent belligerence and mature into responsible young adults\, who will learn to treat creation and each other in more adult and liberating ways”. DESCRIPTION:St. Luke’s Grand Rapids\, in partnership with Christ Wyoming\, Good Shepherd Holland and the Synod Anti-Racism Team\, will host a synod-wide anti-racism training Saturday\, Oct. 24\, 2015 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Childcare is available. There is no charge for the event. \nLakeshore Ethnic Diversity Alliance (LEDA) of Holland will lead the seminar. LEDA works to dismantle barriers to ensure people of all ethnic backgrounds have equal access and opportunity to participate fully in the life of the community. DESCRIPTION:“What is your greatest obstacle to your deepest prayer?” This question posed by monks living in the Egyptian desert is as relevant today as it was in the fourth century. What blocks us from living out our deepest prayer is ourselves. Identifying how we block our own spiritual progress requires consistent self-observation\, appropriate questions for self-reflection\, and a supportive community. This workshop will give us time and information for grappling with and understanding the patterns of our personality structure as crucial to our spiritual growth. It will assist us in getting a clearer picture of the patterns of our personality that are stumbling blocks to deepening our spirituality. \nMany have found the Enneagram Personality System to be extraordinarily insightful in revealing the inner motivations of nine distinct personality types. No type is better or worse than another\, and we remain the same personality type throughout our lives. Our journey is not to change our personality (it’s there for good reason & a gift of God!) but to soften it\, so we can use its gifts to expand awareness\, deepen our compassion and enrich our spiritual lives. DESCRIPTION:LOST AND FOUND\, Michael Bridges and George Baum\, have been traveling around the world performing concerts of their original music and making friends in the process\, since they were in high school. Their music is the kind of thing that often prompts reactions like\, “Well\, I have never heard anything like that before.” \nMichael and George admit it is a unique sound. Yet\, just as they started their musical tours by riding bicycles coast to coast and performing on borrowed instruments wherever they were welcomed\, they continue to encourage all who hear them to “do what you can with what you have for the glory of God\,” as they make their own sound with just two instruments and their voices. Their concerts are interactive\, driven by the audience. Each show is different–always spontaneous\, improvisational and musical\, and often poignant\, occasionally funny. \nSome have said their music is “acoustic thrash.” Some have called it “heavy mental” owing to all the lyrical content in each three-minute song. Our hands.’ Sunday) group has touched people they will never know or meet\, people who will use the library to find a job\, take a class\, introduce a child to books\, borrow a special book or come to email that son far away in Iraq.” \n“There are no words to express what the group of Lakeside Lutheran Church has done for the people of the Littleton area. As you have blessed us\, we ask God to bless you.” \n“God’s work.
