I am shocked and saddened by the stabbing on Saturday in Traverse City, a place dear to my heart that I remember as safe and idyllic. We are all shaken when our safety is undermined. I am remembering that God truly is our safeguard, that Jesus is with us in every and all violence, and that the Spirit will rouse us to more Christlike behavior. I am grateful to Pastor Bright who is in conversation with our congregations in the Traverse City area and we will support them as needed. We pray for the victims, the accused, and the Traverse City community as they begin the important work of healing.
