Time and again we learn of communities in our state and across the US being affected by gun violence. It is heartbreaking each time we learn of a new shooting and are told nothing can be done to stop the gun violence.

The ELCA’s social message, “Community Violence”, urges us to become more involved in countering the gun violence in our communities. Therefore, Bishop Satterlee invites you to join him, Bishop Kreiss of the Southeast Michigan Synod ELCA, Bishop Perry and Bishop Prince Singh of the Episcopal Diocese of Michigan, and religious leaders from across our state in working to advocate for sensible gun safety measures through End Gun Violence Michigan, a coalition of faith leaders, organizers, and affected families. End Gun Violence Michigan has prepared a letter that will be delivered to the office of the Honorable Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey requesting an immediate meeting to discuss the urgent issue of gun violence prevention across our state. All rostered ministers are invited to sign. Learn More.

End Gun Violence Michigan will also be hosting a lobby day in Lansing on April 13, 2022 to meet with legislators and their staff and advocate for sensible gun laws in our state. Bishop Satterlee invites you to join him in attending. Learn More and RSVP.
