Bishop Satterlee joined Presiding Bishop Eaton and other bishops throughout the ELCA in supporting “Golden Rule 2020: A Call for Dignity and Respect in Politics.” This statement was developed by a wide range of Christian leaders in conjunction with the National Institute for Civil Discourse in Washington, D.C. earlier this year and is aimed at applying Jesus’ teaching that we “do unto others as you would have them do unto you” to political discussions and activities throughout the upcoming 2020 election season.
Congregations are welcome to participate by incorporating this message into worship and learning activities on November 3, 2019. Those that choose to participate are asked to pray for God’s help in healing our country and promote the use of the Golden Rule in political discussions and election activities throughout the 2020 campaign season.
