In recent months, thousands of unaccompanied migrant children have arrived at the US southern border seeking protection. Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS)’s temporary foster care programs able to accept families that live within 50 miles of one of five locations in the country and one of those locations is in the North/West Lower Michigan Synod. Temporary Foster Care serves children in the short term until they are unified with their family/sponsors providing them with a safe and family centric environment.
