Our Synod has been in joint ministry with the Lutheran Church of Honduras for more than a decade. In gratitude for our partnership, we will be praying for the 12 faith communities in Honduras on October 9, while they are praying for our 113 Synod congregations. We have been invited to pray especially for the healing ministries of Salud Para La Vida (Health for Life) and the continued hope it brings to the poorest of the poor in the most undeserved neighborhoods. As faithful Lutheran Christians serve in areas where frequent violence prevails, in both of our countries, the designated prayer of the day for the Sunday seems more than appropriate: “Keep us (all of us in Michigan and Honduras) safe from the all that may hurt us, that whole and well in body and spirit, we may with grateful hearts accomplish all that you would have us do.”
