We Are Church – Five More Days to Assembly!

  • The blessing of the paint for the National Youth Gathering will take place at the evening worship on Sunday. Instructions on dropping off paint cans will be posted on the website and emailed to congregations and pastors this week. Lisa Jeffreys has rented a van to transport the collection. Let’s fill it up!

  • Bring a hat! We will celebrate Pentecost at our Closing Eucharist on Tuesday morning of Assembly. Since the hotel won’t allow tongues of fire, Bishop Satterlee exhorts you to wear a hat that celebrates your baptismal calling as a child of God anointed with the Spirit. Your hat can be either your vocation or an avocation. For example, Pastor Dave Sprang intends to wear a firefighter’s helmet to signify his avocation as a volunteer firefighter.

  • Rostered Leader pictures for the pictorial directory will be taken in the Assembly Room from Sunday afternoon until Monday afternoon. If you would prefer to submit your own photograph, click here for instructions.

  • Remember to bring your congregation’s collection for the annual Synod Assembly offerings that will be gathering during both the Sunday evening worship and the Tuesday closing worship. The offerings will be split evenly between Lutheran Disaster Response and the Campaign for the ELCA to support disability ministries.

  • Visit the Assembly page of the Synod Website to view the newly posted resources! There is supplement to the annual report, which contains two new bios for nominated candidates, and downloadable copies of the worship bulletins for the opening and closing worship services.

  •  We are excited to be able to display the Synod quilt, which is a work in progress, at the Synod Assembly! The quilt will be a “traveler” and will be making the rounds of congregation over the coming years. It is not too late to submit squares to be added! We want to be sure that each congregations is represented on the quilt, with room for more squares to be added as we grow. Our deepest thanks to Connie Meeker, who has spent hours putting it together.
