The North/West Lower Michigan Synod is pleased to announce that Rebecca Bossenbroek has accepted the synod’s Financial Administrator position! She will begin a gradual transition into this part-time position over the next few weeks as she begins to partner with Margie Bauer in the knowledge transfer and on-boarding process. She will transition fully into the position by May 1, 2018 to allow for a formal 3-week overlap period with Margie who will fully retire following the 2018 Synod Assembly (ending May 22, 2018).
Rebecca has been a very active leader within our synod for many years. She served as Executive Assistant for Administration for both Bp. Emeritus Gary Hanson and Bp. Emeritus John Schleicher from 2005-2010. Rebecca became Administrator of the synod’s Equipping Leaders for Mission and Ministry (ELMM) program in 2013 and she partners with Bishop Craig Satterlee, Synod Treasurer Dan Carter and others on the synod Endowment Committee which formed in 2016. Rebecca has also provided leadership for many Synod Assemblies where most recently she has led the process to compile and publish the Synod Assembly Report. She will continue her leadership in these areas in the near term. Within her congregation, Rebecca currently serves as Director of Worship and she has filled a number of positions within their Congregation Council, including Financial Development Leader, President, Recording Secretary, Endowment Fund Team Chair and Treasurer.
From a vocational standpoint, in 2011 Rebecca transitioned from the synod’s Executive Assistant position to accounting roles outside of the synod to take advantage of her BBA degree in Business Professional Studies from Davenport University – serving as staff accountant, bookkeeper, and controller for multiple companies in the Lansing area. Rebecca will continue in her current position as controller for a Lansing area company while she manages her new responsibilities within the synod’s part-time Financial Administrator position.
Rebecca is highly committed to the success of each area that she serves – she is organized, detail-oriented, high energy, and very passionate about her work for the church and the ministry being led across the synod. We are very fortunate to have Rebecca agree to use her time and talents as Financial Administrator for the synod.
Welcome to this new role Rebecca!
