Pastor Megan Crouch Honduras Reflection

Posted: May 12, 2026 image

This week’s “Wandering” reflection comes with a guest narrator! Pastor Megan Crouch (Peace, Gaylord) has graciously agreed to share reflections from her recent travels with the Synod’s Global Missions Table.

The Synod Global Missions Table and Synod Honduras Team want to thank you for the amazing support of our 2026 spring trip to our companion synod in Honduras! Seven people from our synod, including Bishop Julie Schneider-Thomas, spent a week this past April visiting the Iglesia Cristiana Luterana de Honduras, (ICLH).

During our time we did 12 pastoral care visits to people in the communities, spent time with 4 HIV/ Aids support groups supported by the Church in Honduras and our Synod, visited 4 churches, visited tutoring programs and a school supported by the ELCA and companion synod relationships.

The highlight of the trip though was hosting a training for 20 health volunteers from the ICLH. Most of the workshop participants said they were over 3 hours away from medical help, and skills like the Heimlich maneuver, wound care, treating high or low blood sugar, stabilizing limbs, and basic CPR are deeply needed!

In addition to the training, we were also able to provide each community with a large first aid kit, filled with donations from around the synod. Each kit contained gloves, bandages, a blood pressure cuff, glucose monitoring kits, thermometers, emergency blankets, safety scissors, and more! The volunteers also each received a smaller personal kit to take home and use in their communities.

God is at work in the church of Honduras! We invite you to contact Pastor Megan Crouch or Connie Lenkowski to learn more about our ministry with our companions in Honduras (Please contact the synod office for their contact information). You can also check out our display table at the upcoming Synod Assembly! THANK YOU for your amazing support!

Blessings and peace,

Pastor Megan Crouch
