I have been in the North/West Lower Michigan Synod my entire life, with the exception of the 4 years
I spent at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN. I was a member of Grace in Lansing and Peace in
Charlotte as a young person. I became familiar with Immanuel in Mount Pleasant during my Central
Michigan University years. I was an associate pastor at Saint Thomas in Cheboygan for 5 ½ years.
I’ve spent the past 16 ½ years serving Zion in Cadillac. All of that to say this: it is an amazing gift to
be on the staff of a synod that has continued to shape me my entire life.

I have been married to my wife, Lindsey, for 24 years. We have three children: Dezi, JT, and Fiia
who range in age from 4 to 21 (it’s a long story about infertility, foster care, adoption, and special
needs). I love coaching basketball, walking our dog Ivy, and watching my kids evolve through
each season of their life.

I am endlessly curious about, and fascinated by, the church. I mean, who in their right mind would
have thought up the church if not for God? Through this mysterious body of people called “church”
I have caught the spirit of Jesus’s amazing grace again and again. I can’t wait to hear how God is
at work in the places you live and worship, because the church is always a story full of wonder.
