A History of God’s People and Exile, Return and Restoration: An ELMM Retreat

October 28, 2016 - October 29, 2016

A History of God’s People and Exile, Return and Restoration

Rev. Julie Faith Parker, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Old Testament, Trinity Lutheran Seminary

Through a close look at the books of Joshua, Judges, Samuel and Kings, we recount nearly 700 years of stories of the Israelites. The invasion of Jerusalem by Babylonian forces, the sacking and burning of the city, the destruction of the temple, the end of 500 years of rule under the Davidic dynasty, and the forced removal of considerable number of the population of the land were part of a terrible catastrophe. The shock waves left no one untouched.
