Lay Ministry Training Program Retreat
September 18, 2015 - September 19, 2015
Deutero-Pauline Letters and Other Epistles
This retreat will focus on the letters, or “epistles,” in the New Testament attributed to Paul, but not necessarily written by him. The issue of authorship is especially important whenever a person seeks to know that Paul thought about a particular matter. Professor Wally Taylor from Trinity Lutheran Seminary will guide us through the material and include discussion on “Women and Men in Pauline Theology,” focusing on the role of women in what is thought to be the historical Paul and what is thought to be written in his name. This includes discussion on women in ministry and emphasis on what the Pauline tradition says about marriage. We will also explore Hebrews, James, 1 Peter, 2 Peter.
